Golf

Clare has 11 golf courses ranging from world - renowned seaside links to parkland courses, providing a variety of challenges to any handicap. Most are playable all year round.
The 18-hole championship course at Lahinch has the "Klondyke" and the "Dell" holes, numbered among the most famous in golf.
There are numerous pitch & putt courses in the area, including a spectacular course right here in Doolin:

Walking

Tony Kirby offers guided walks through the Burren National Park. This is one of the last great uncontaminated landscapes in Ireland. The walk features commentaries on the wildflowers, limestone pavement, archaeology, farming, wildlife and folklore of the region. It includes the geological icon of the region (Mullaghmore hill), herds of feral goats, a large turlough or seasonal lake, great “wallscapes” (networks of drystone walls) and the world-renowned Burren mélange of Arctic, Alpine and Mediterranean. Fishing

Doolin and the beaches of north Clare are great spots for shore angling for pollock, bass and mackerel.
Deep sea fishing is also popular in the region.
Boats can be chartered from Liscannor Bay and Miltown Malbay.


Sailing and Watersports

The beaches of Clare are ideal for surfing and swimming, whilst River Ocean Kayak, based in Ballyvaughan offer sea kyaking tuition and trips of varying lengths.

Ballyvaughan harbour offers pleasure craft including an expanding sailing fleet and is a starting point for boat trips to the islands.

The clean clear waters off the Atlantic coast are perfect snorkelling and scuba diving. A little further afield, there are shark, skate and tope to test the mettle of the deep sea enthusiast. Scuba diving is available in Doolin.


Horse Riding

Ireland's traditional preoccupation with horses and horseriding is particularly evident throughout the Shannon region.

Cycling

The wide-open spaces and the burren hills are also ideal for cycling, with bike rental outlets in many towns including Doolin.




Cruising

The Aran Islands, one of the last outposts of Gaelic civilisation where Irish is still the spoken language, are ony 30 minutes by Ferry from Doolin.
Cliffs of Moher Cruises offer ferries to the Aran Islands and tours along the 6 miles of cliffs with opportunities to view all the different species that make this unique place their home.
